17 Feb Is Prah Jatukarm related to Lord Murugan?
My thoughts on Prah Jartukarm
Jatukham Rammathep is a deity associated with popular amulets in Thailand, particularly from Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The origins and identity of Jatukham Rammathep are subjects of various interpretations and legends.
One prevalent belief is that Jatukham Rammathep represents two distinct individuals:
• *Jatukham*: Prince Inthara Sairen
• *Rammathep*: Prince Inthara Khao Kheo
These princes were sons of King Jantharaphanu, who ruled the Sri Thammasok realm, the capital of the Srivijaya Kingdom in southern Thailand.
Over time, the names Jatukham and Rammathep became conflated, leading to the combined deity known today.
Another perspective suggests that Jatukham Rammathep is an incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, reflecting the influence of Mahayana Buddhism in southern Thailand during earlier periods.
Regarding the association with Lord Murugan/Kartikeya/Skanda
My perspectives after studying mysticism for a while now is that the avatar of a deity often reflects his/her’s essence.
Lord Murugan is associated with being the God of War. And his foremost blessing is Victory and Success.
So lets dive deeper into the essence I speak about.
Lord Murugan, also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, or Subramanya, is the Hindu god of war, wisdom, and victory.
He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is widely worshipped, especially in South India, Sri Lanka, and among Tamil communities worldwide.
His blessings bring immense power, protection, and spiritual growth.
Blessings of Lord Murugan
🔱 Victory & Success – Murugan is the ultimate warrior deity, granting his devotees the ability to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies, and achieve success in life. Whether in business, career, or personal battles, he ensures triumph over struggles.
🦚 Wisdom & Intelligence – As the god of knowledge and learning, Murugan blesses his devotees with sharp intellect, clarity of thought, and deep wisdom. He is the one who revealed the true meaning of Om (AUM) to Lord Shiva, showing his divine knowledge.
🔥 Courage & Fearlessness – Devotees of Lord Murugan are blessed with unshakable confidence, inner strength, and the power to face any challenge. His spear (Vel) symbolizes the ability to cut through fear and ignorance.
🛡 Protection from Evil & Negativity – Lord Murugan is a powerful guardian against negative energies, black magic, and evil forces. His devotees often wear his sacred symbols or chant his mantras for divine protection.
💰 Wealth & Prosperity – While Murugan is primarily a warrior god, he also grants material wealth and abundance to those who seek his blessings with sincerity. Many businesspeople pray to him for financial success.
❤️ Family Harmony & Love – Murugan blesses his devotees with strong relationships, love, and family unity. Married couples and those seeking love often worship him for happiness and harmony in relationships.
🕉 Spiritual Growth & Moksha – Murugan is a guide for those on a spiritual journey, helping devotees attain self-realization, devotion, and ultimately liberation (moksha). His worship is especially beneficial for those practicing yoga, meditation, and inner transformation.
How to Receive Murugan’s Blessings
✅ Chanting His Mantras – Powerful mantras like “Om Saravanabhava” and “Om Muruga” invoke his energy.
✅ Offering Prayers & Pujas – Devotees perform special rituals, especially on Tuesdays, Fridays, and during Thaipusam.
✅ Visiting His Temples – Especially sacred are the six abodes of Murugan (Arupadai Veedu) in Tamil Nadu.
✅ Carrying His Symbol – Wearing the Vel (spear) symbol or his yantra provides divine protection.
✅ Practicing Courage & Devotion – True devotion to Murugan means facing life’s challenges with bravery, faith, and righteousness.
Knowing this it is up to you to decide if Prah Jartukarm is indeed a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara of Lord Murugan.
I see no harm in associating the 2 Deities.
On the topic of “Can I eat beef”?
I personally do not eat beef as I am a Shiva Devotee however in Thai Buddhism as mentioned above these amulets are blessed in the avatar of a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and NOT Lord Murugan thus consuming beef is permitted as the Buddha himself ate beef and any form of nourishment presented to him in his Alms bowl (Fabuat).
